Brewin Dolphin Scottish Cup

On Saturday we hosted Stewart's Melville College in the semi-final of the Scottish Cup. On a heavy pitch and in very wet conditions the boys fought hard to gain a place in the final at Murrayfield. At the half-way stage, the XV led by a penalty kick through our stand-off, Sam H-C and we were in control for much of the second half. The team defended superbly and played well in all areas of the field. During the second half the Stewart's pack began to exert themselves and eventually their stand-off went over the line and the conversion followed to end the game 7-3 to the visitors. The XV have had an excellent cup run and have represented Merchiston to the highest of standards both on and off the field. They will now turn their attention to the final 1st XV matches and the 7s circuit where Merchiston will be competing at a number of tournaments including the National Schools Sevens Tournament at Rosslyn Park in March.
