On 21st March on the Forth and Clyde Canal near Kilsyth, boys from Merchiston Castle competed in the Scottish Schools Rowing Championship. Representing the St Andrew Boat Club, Lower 6th boys Fergus, Scott, Fergus and Craig entered as a four (with a cox from the Club) and completed the 3000 metre course in a good time. Rowing for less than a year the boys gained valuable experience and enjoyed the event, determined to return next year. Ruaraidh (in Shell) also competed in the J16 with a team from the Club. Overall almost 30 teams competed in the annual event which was blessed with glorious weather.
