On Sunday 8 February the BBC came to Merchiston to film footage for the 2009 Six Nations Scotland V Wales match programme. The programme featured a 'Back to School' piece as current Scotland coach Frank Hadden taught for many years at Merchiston, and coached current Scotland player Phil Godman when he was Captain of the 1st XV.
