Go4Set Challenge

On 24 February the school Go4Set team of Johnny, Joe, Scott, Richard, Vlad and Jay took part in a Celebration Awards Day at the Infomatics building at Edinburgh University. The boys presented their project well and received some excellent feedback from the assessors.

The boys were given an initial brief of designing an Eco-Hotel.  To satisfy the brief the boys carried out research into alternative renewable energy sources, complied case studies on similar environmental schemes, investigated energy efficient materials, and carried out energy audits at home and on their boarding house, including experiments with solar and wind power.  They then designed and made a model of the hotel which was to be located in California. 

The boys learned a lot during this project and all will be awarded the CREST (Creativity in Science and Technology) Silver award. Congratulations and well done to the team, they did extremely well with the support of Mr Mains and mentor company BP.
