As we come towards the end of a balmy Summer Term, it is wonderful to record that we are almost two-thirds of the way through our 175th Anniversary Year! So much has happened over the course of this term in the following spheres of the Merchiston way of life: our 175th Anniversary celebrations, the world of the classroom, Enlightened Curriculum events, challenge and external academic competitions, sport, music, drama, the CCF, outdoor education, co-curricular activities, Chapel, leadership, marketing and admissions. I also cover news about staff, how the Parents’ Forum works, practical matters, summer holiday trips and tours, progress on the new Sixth Form Quarter, charitable status and public benefit, our most recent Care Commission inspection, the Upper Sixth, and the Board of Governors.

I hope you have enjoyed reading this newsletter, and that it has given you an insight into what we have been doing over the course of this term.  Each year there are new pupils, new parents and new staff to look after!  Barbara and I trust that you all manage to spend some family time together over the coming weeks, and we thank you again for your continued and greatly appreciated support of Merchiston, its staff and its pupils, and all of our endeavours.

Yours
