Cars. We are not at all keen for boys to have cars in School, and while we do not ban them altogether, we will only give permission for a boy to have a car in School in extreme circumstances. In addition, we have restricted parking available here. Permission has to be granted by Deputy Headmaster Nigel Rickard, to whom any requests should be made in the first instance. (Full details will be contained in the next School Policies and Guidelines for pupils, parents and guardians booklet: September 2008 edition.)Day Boys. We would respectfully ask all the parents of day boys to do all they can to ensure that their sons keep their School uniform and kilt uniform in presentable condition. We realise this is an ongoing battle with young people, but we shall be doing all we can to ensure the boarders are well turned out.
‘Boarding-In Weekends’ usually appear in the Calendar at the beginning and end of term, and either side of Half Term. Permission for Leave Out on these weekends will not normally be granted.
Pupil Etiquette. We are turning our minds to this subject next year. The Personal and Social Education programme will be looking at a range of issues and liaising closely with the Housemasters to ensure an integrated approach. Understanding the niceties of hosting a dinner party or attending a formal social function will be high up the agenda!
Sunday Services. A reminder that Whole School Services require the presence of all day boys, as well as boarders, and that any parental request for absence should be sent in advance to the relevant Housemaster. Furthermore, absence should be requested only for special circumstances.
Early Departures/Late Arrivals. Whilst it is appreciated that parents of boys living overseas have to take into consideration appropriate flight arrangements, all parents are requested to try and ensure that boys do not leave early for Half Term, or at the end of term; equally, that they do not arrive back at School late at the end of either of these. Please note, too, that permission to leave early or arrive back late must be sought from the Headmaster.
