As I indicated to you last term, Merchiston was listed as one of 11 schools in the next raft of charities to go through the charity test, which requires us to show that we are providing public benefit and to detail how we are widening access. Our submission, which was extremely professional, went to OSCR in January and we have now received a letter requesting some further clarification. We have just dispatched our 2nd submission according to the deadline of mid March. This term, the Scottish Council of Independent Schools (SCIS) held a seminar at Merchiston for Heads, Governors and Bursars on passing the charity test and we led one of the sessions. As I have previously mentioned, we are greatly indebted to SCIS for their advice in this as in so many other areas.
