Apart from the events I have already written about under the 175th Anniversary umbrella, over the course of this term the Pipe Band has played in the CCF Piobreachd Competition at Loretto, the Piping and Drumming Competition at George Watson’s, and the Glasgow Highland Club Piping and Drumming Competition. Our own internal Piping and Drumming Competition saw 40 pipers, 24 chanter players and 40 drummers taking part. This is a rapidly growing feature of the Merchiston way of life! Equally, behind the scenes, the Junior Drama production is in rehearsal Our very strong Chapel Choir, which, we must remember, has to be taught to sing as we do not necessarily have the tradition of admitting many Choral Scholars, performed at a Concert in Paisley Abbey. As in every area of the Merchiston way of life, one cannot underestimate the importance of practising to create the final product. |
