As I sit drafting this newsletter at the end of an immensely satisfying Autumn Term, it is important to remember that 97 new pupils, 10 new staff, and indeed so many new Merchiston parents only joined the Merchiston 'journey' at the beginning of September. I am delighted with how these various constituencies have fared over the last three months, and I hope that this newsletter gives you a 'bird's eye view' of what we have all been up to this term.

I hope that this electronic version of our newsletter makes it easier for you to quickly read the sections of interest to you, as well as quickly linking to other documents of interest. Please feed back any comments on our move towards electronic communication to Gayle Cordiner: gac@merchiston.co.uk

It remains for me to say "thank you": thank you to the boys and to the staff for a remarkable term, and thank you to you, the parents, for your support of the School. I very much hope that you are able to enjoy some family time over Christmas and New Year, and Barbara and I, and our family, send you all our very best wishes. We look forward to seeing you in 2008, our 175th Anniversary Year.

Yours

Andrew Hunter
