Merchiston celebrated two wins at the Scottish section of Young Engineer for Britain Competition on Friday 19 June; both boys have now also been invited to attend the national final in Manchester in March 2010. The awards were presented to Grant for his Milk Drum Transporter (below) and Ruaridh for his T-shirt compactor.
Also attending the national final are Tom, Scott, Campbell and Craig for their winning CREST Gold Technology project - Solar Measurement System. (photo below with Tom)
Four Second form boys (Sharav, George, John and Angus) also represented the school in the Junior Engineering category.
Pupils at Merchiston have also recently been awarded prizes for innovative work in Design and Technology at the CREST (CREativity in Science and Technology) Awards.
