Tennis latest: Scottish Champions

We are delighted to congratulate our tennis team on winning the Scottish Schools Cup, after beating the High School of Glasgow in the semi-final, and Madras College in the final.
Additionally, on Monday the 1st IV played RGS Newcastle in the last 32 of the Glanvill Cup. The first round consisted of 4 singles matches of 3 sets. Stewart lost his singles at 1 in 3 sets, James won his singles in 2 straight sets as did Patrick at 4. Jasper struggled in his singles and eventually lost 6 - 2 6 - 3. So after the singles the match score was 2 - 2.

Both doubles were exciting, and Jasper and Patrick won their match through a reitrement of one of their players. Stewart and James lost their doubles in three sets. So at the end of the match the score was still tied at 3 - 3.

To decide the match Stewart and James went back on to play a match tie-break to 10 points which they won 10 -7. This has qualified the school for the last 16 event in London. This is held at Queenswood School during the holidays.
