Scottish Cricket Internationalists

We were contacted by Neil Leitch, the Honorary Historian of Cricket Scotland, who is overseeing a large current project involving putting all their International records on their website - cricketscotland.co.uk

As an integral part of the project, they have been trying to obtain electronic photographs of all Scottish Cricket Internationalists, and asked if Merchiston Castle School could help. We were able to send the accompanying photograph of Ambrose Haggerston Dickins, who was Captain of Cricket in 1878. He was also School Captain in both 1876 and 1877, as well as Captain of Rugby in those years. The photograph also shows J Wright, who was the cricket coach at Merchiston at that time. Unfortunately we were unable to provide photographs of earlier cricketers at Merchiston, Walter Miller Roland, Hector Norman Tennent, William Middleton Tennent and James Thomas Soutar.
