A Level/GCSE Information System Survey 2008
(Charts displayed below)

value added statistics

ALIS predicts the UCAS points which a pupil is likely to achieve at A Level, based on his performance at GCSE. This score takes into account the ability of the school's intake and is therefore considered to be fairer way to judge a school's performance than the League Tables. Given our excellent GCSE results, it is very impressive that we continue to add value at A Level. Results shaded in red are outstanding; we are delighted that five of Merchiston's academic departments have achieved this accolade.

midyis statisticsThe MidYIS Chart shows the value added between the Fourth Form and the GCSE year. All boys sit the MidYIS test which is then used to predict performance at GCSE. We feel that the value we add is remarkable; most departments are improving by one and a half grades.
