information technology

Lower School

Throughout I to IV Forms, pupils are introduced to a wide range of software. They are able to develop their basic IT skills on packages such as Microsoft Office Professional. Here they undertake a number of interesting and exciting projects, while developing their problem-solving skills. This is using a syllabus that is changing and developing to take into account new ideas, equipment and software as it becomes available or on-line.

Middle School

Most boys maintain and develop their IT skills through continued lessons in Shell and V Forms. They work towards an established qualification (European Computer Driving Licence) at the end of the V Form. This qualification covers 7 topics: Basic concepts of IT, Using the computer and managing files, Word processing, Spreadsheets, Database, Presentation and Information and communication.

Upper School

For boys wishing to develop their skills in IT to a greater depth the department offers 2 exam courses. Students can follow a full A level Information Technology course (OCR board) or an AS over 2 years. These courses mix coursework and exam based elements.
