Mr P Nicholls

Paul Nicholls taught in Durham before spending four years teaching in Turkey. He joined the Merchiston staff in September 2002. His interests include sailing, sound & lighting and computing. He became Head of Department in September 2003.

Dr S Twyford (photo centre)
Sharon Twyford studied at Universities of Strathclyde, Glasgow and Edinburgh where she did teacher training. She joined Merchiston in September 2002.

Mr R Armstrong (photo right)
Robert taught at Glenalmond and in Bristol before taking up his post at Merchiston. His interests include piping and outdoor pursuits, as well as curling and rugby.

Dr I Mitchell (photo 2nd left)
Ian has a variety of experience, both teaching overseas, and at university level in the UK where he was a research physicist for several years. His interests include raquet sports and photography.

Liz Scott has been a Science Technician at Merchiston for twelve years. She enjoys keeping fit in her spare time.
